Home EV Chargers (Wallbox)

How to choose a home EV charger

A home EV charger (wallbox) is a wall-mounted AC charger that charges your car 3 to 6 times faster than a household socket. Look at four things when choosing a model:

  • Power: your car's AC charging power decides. Most cars accept 11 kW AC, so 11 kW is enough; 22 kW only helps cars that support it. Wallboxes need a three-phase supply.
  • Tethered or socket: a tethered model has a fixed Type 2 cable for plug-and-charge convenience; a socket model uses your own cable and suits shared car parks.
  • Shared use: residential and workplace car parks need dynamic load balancing, OCPP and per-user metering (MID meter).
  • Smart features: app, scheduled charging and RFID let you charge at cheaper hours and limit access to authorised users.

Differences between Bemis models

  • Charger 2: the most affordable model for one car at home; 11 or 22 kW, 5 m tethered cable, RFID, LCD, Wi-Fi and app.
  • Charger Plus 2: 4–22 kW adjustable power, dynamic load balancing, OCPP 1.6; tethered or socket, optional MID meter. For homes and small shared car parks.
  • Charger Pro 2: for residential sites, apartment blocks and workplaces; everything in Plus 2 plus an optional GSM (4G) module.

Installation is not included in the charger price. In Bursa we offer a free site survey and install with our own team; average prices by cable length are on our installation page.
