How to install magnetic track lighting
Magnetic track lighting consists of a slim track running on 48 V direct current and luminaires that attach to it magnetically. Linear luminaires provide general lighting, magnetic spotlights add accents and pendants give decorative light over tables and islands. Luminaires click on and off without tools and slide along the track, so the lighting is easily rearranged when the room layout changes.
- Track profile: recessed (flush with the ceiling), surface-mounted (no renovation) or under-panel (below suspended ceiling panels).
- 48 V driver: about 20% larger than the total wattage of the luminaires.
- Power feed and connectors: corner, T and cross connectors shape the track layout.
- Luminaires: linear (diffused/lens), spotlights, glass globes, pendants and circular systems.
Lamptime luminaires are made to order with the colour temperature, housing colour and optic you choose and ship within 1–3 business days. For projects and bulk orders, write to us for help choosing luminaires and calculating quantities.

Yes. It is widely used in living rooms, kitchens, hallways and studies. The slim track draws a clean line on the ceiling, and the luminaires can be repositioned later.
The total wattage of the luminaires should not exceed about 80% of the driver rating; for example, a 150 W driver can supply 120 W of luminaires.
