EV Charging Cost Calculator
Calculate the monthly and yearly cost of charging your electric car at home, at public AC chargers and at DC fast chargers, and compare it with a petrol or diesel car. Default prices are Turkish prices in lira (TRY) as of 9/30/2026; you can enter your own values.
| Fuel / charging | 100 km | Monthly | Yearly |
|---|---|---|---|
| Home charging | TRY 64 | TRY 962 | TRY 11,547 |
| Public AC charging | TRY 208 | TRY 3,119 | TRY 37,422 |
| Public DC fast charging | TRY 284 | TRY 4,253 | TRY 51,030 |
| Petrol car | TRY 571 | TRY 8,558 | TRY 102,690 |
| Diesel car | TRY 566 | TRY 8,496 | TRY 101,952 |
Charging at home saves you about TRY 91,143 a year compared with a petrol car.
Charging losses are added to the EV cost (AC 10%, DC 5%). For information only; real consumption depends on driving conditions, season and tariff.
How to lower your charging cost
- Do most of your charging at home: public chargers cost 3–5 times more per kWh than household electricity.
- On a time-of-use tariff, schedule charging at night; a home charger with scheduled charging does this automatically.
- Use a home EV charger instead of a household socket: faster, safer and with lower losses.
Monthly distance (km) × consumption (kWh/100 km) ÷ 100 × electricity unit price. Because of charging losses, the energy drawn from the grid is about 10% more than what goes into the battery; the calculator adds this automatically.
For an EV driving 1,500 km a month and using 18 kWh/100 km, home charging costs about TRY 962 a month at 3.24 TRY/kWh. The same distance in a petrol car using 7 L/100 km costs about TRY 8,558 at 81.5 TRY/L.
Yes. Public AC chargers cost about 10.5 TRY/kWh and DC fast chargers about 15 TRY/kWh, while household electricity is about 3.24 TRY/kWh. Charging mostly at home keeps running costs lowest.
On a three-rate (time-of-use) tariff, the night rate (22:00–06:00) can be lower than the daytime rate. A home charger with scheduled charging automatically shifts charging to these hours.
