Our store on Google: 5.0 ★ · 13 reviewsA residual current device compares the current flowing out with the current returning; when the difference (leakage) exceeds the set value, it disconnects the circuit and protects against electric shock and fires caused by leakage. A type AC device detects sinusoidal alternating residual currents and is used for general protection in homes and businesses. For circuits with electronic equipment (inverter air conditioners, EV charging, washing machines) a type A device is more suitable.
Legrand XC10 is a new generation of residual current circuit breakers (RCCB) made at the Gebze factory. They comply with EN/IEC 61008-1, are TSE certified, have an electrical life of 10,000 operations and work from −25 °C to +70 °C. 2-pole models are 230 V and 2 modules wide; 4-pole models are 400 V and 4 modules wide (neutral on the left). The coloured marking on the toggle shows the contact position; the devices can be supplied by busbar and accept auxiliary and fault signal contacts.
30 mA sensitivity is for personal protection: if someone gets a shock, it disconnects the circuit before the current reaches a level dangerous to the human body – the value used for homes, bathrooms and socket circuits. 300 mA is for fire protection: it disconnects leakage caused by insulation faults and is usually used as main protection at the building entrance or in larger installations. An RCCB does not protect against short circuit or overload; it is always used together with a suitable circuit breaker and its rating must not be lower than the breaker upstream.
Choose 2-pole for single-phase and 4-pole for three-phase installations. The rating (25, 40, 63 A) depends on the current through the device and the circuit breaker upstream.

Frequently asked questions
30 mA is used for personal protection in homes, bathrooms and socket circuits. 300 mA is for fire protection, usually as main protection at the entrance of larger buildings together with 30 mA devices downstream. If in doubt, choose 30 mA or check the installation design.
2-pole for single-phase (230 V) installations and circuits, 4-pole for three-phase (400 V) installations and three-phase equipment. The neutral of the 4-pole device is on the left.
Type AC only detects sinusoidal alternating residual currents. Type A also detects pulsating DC residual currents that electronic equipment can produce. Type A is preferred for EV charging, inverter air conditioners and washing machines.
Common causes are an insulation fault in an appliance or cable, moisture, water in a socket or junction box, or the small leakages of many appliances adding up. Press the test button once a month to check it works; if it trips often, have the installation checked by an electrician.
