Electric cars with V2L (Vehicle to Load) can supply the energy in their battery to external devices. The Bemis single-outlet V2L adapter (V2L cable) plugs into your car's Type 2 charging port and turns it into a standard household socket, so you can run an electric cooker or coffee machine when camping, power tools in the garden, or a fridge and lights during a power cut, directly from your car.
Car makers use different signal values for V2L, so the adapter is chosen by car brand: one version for Hyundai, Kia and SsangYong, one for MG and another for BYD and Skywell. Check your owner's manual or the car's menu that your car supports V2L; the adapter doesn't work on cars without it.
The adapter supplies up to 16 A. Total power is limited by your car's V2L limit (typically 2.2–3.6 kW depending on the model); if devices exceed this, the car cuts the output. To use several devices at once or move them away from the car, choose the 3 m cable V2L extension adapters with 1, 2 or 3 sockets.

Yes, the energy comes from the battery. Most cars let you set a minimum battery level for V2L; when it's reached, the car cuts the output automatically and the range you need for driving is preserved.
